Shin bone or splints - periostitis

The periostitis is a thin jacket which surrounds the bone. When trauma or overload, the periostitis is inflamed or falls off of the bone structure and bone responds by producing the bone material to fill the space between the bone and the periostitis. We always score a warmth and pain next to the splint. Lameness is more or less almost constant intensity. Depending on the location of the splint, it can create tendon injuries by friction. Diagnosis is clinical and radiographic and the stop time is generally long enough.
