Lymphangitis is an inflammation of the lymphatic system in the horse. This inflammation causes an accumulation of lymph in the members of the horse that may concern the previous or the posterior or both. Lymphangitis can be acute or chronic. In acute cases, the cause is often a skin wound with bacterial and viral infection. In chronic cases can have as cause a contusion injury. When acute lymphangitis mismanaged the horse may have a disorder of the lymphatic system becomes permanent. Lymphangitis can be asymptomatic Musculoskeletal level or otherwise cause severe lameness.
